“Halo: Spartan Assault” is now available for $6.991 worldwide for Windows 8 and Windows Phone 82, 343 Industries announced today during their panel at San Diego Comic-Con.

Developed by 343 Industries in conjunction with Vanguard Games, “Halo: Spartan Assault” is a new, top-down shooter that has been optimized for Windows 8 touch-based devices, and delivers a brand-new chapter in the “Halo” universe.  “Halo: Spartan Assault” explores the origins of the Spartan Ops program through the eyes of either Commander Sarah Palmer or Spartan Davis, and provides a deeper look at the backstory of the Human-Covenant War.

“We wanted to do something really different since we were working on mobile platforms,” said Dan Ayoub, Executive Producer on “Halo: Spartan Assault.” “However, we needed to make sure it still retained that classic ‘Halo’ feel, so it became our goal to create the right experience for the right screen.”

In the U.S., “Halo: Spartan Assault” for Windows Phone 8 is available first for Verizon Wireless customers from July 18 through Aug. 16.3

“We’re extremely excited to work with 343 on the ‘Halo’ franchise,” said Nick McWhorter, Director of Custom Projects at Dark Horse Comics. “It’s a universe that is rich and has endless possibilities for storytelling.”

Lastly, 343 Industries announced that the “Halo: Spartan Assault” soundtrack is now available for $9.99 on all major digital music distribution channels. Composed by Tom Salta, the soundtrack features 27 full length songs with over 60 minutes of music.
