Xbox Live Gold members are getting some major eye candy with our announcement today of upcoming GoPro Channel apps for Xbox One and Xbox 360. The GoPro Channel apps will stream curated GoPro video content to your HDTV through your Xbox console, enabling users to browse and search a variety of categories including sports, athletes and adventure, and watch individual videos or view back-to-back videos within a category. Additionally, Xbox Live Gold members will be able to purchase GoPro cameras and accessories directly through the app, fulfilled by the Microsoft online store. This marks the first time Microsoft has integrated the physical purchase of packaged goods into an Xbox platform app. In a press release issued today, GoPro Founder and CEO Nicholas Woodman, said, “GoPro is a content-driven company. We enable consumers and professionals around the world to capture and share mesmerizing video and photo content that excites and inspires a global audience. Our GoPro Channel app will make it easy for millions of global Xbox Live customers to watch GoPro originally-produced and ‘best of’ user-generated content on their televisions at home. We’re excited to align ourselves with Microsoft and the Xbox brand as we believe our customers share the same desire to enjoy the type of immersive, experiential content that our cameras enable.” We’ll roll out the GoPro Channel app on Xbox 360 this spring and Xbox One this summer.
