The latest add-on for “Ryse: Son of Rome,” the “Morituri Pack,” launches today. Available for $7.99 USD in the Xbox Games Store, or as part of the “Ryse: Son of Rome” Season Pass, the “Morituri Pack” gives gladiators brand-new content, including a slew of exotic and deadly arenas to further their legacy upon the blood-splattered sands of the Colosseum.
The “Morituri Pack” introduces three new arenas for Gladiator mode – Beacon, False Gods and Revolution – and two for Survival mode – Sulfur River and The Forbidden Forest. Beacon tasks players with infiltrating a barbarian camp, False Gods has gladiators battling in Ancient Egyptian temples, and Revolution is set amid the crumbling ruins of the once majestic Roman Empire. In Sulfur River and The Forbidden Forest, navigate an onslaught of perilous traps as you battle against insurmountable odds until the bitter end.
If fighting in the arena alone is more your style, the “Morituri Pack” also includes five arenas that have been optimized for Solo Mode – Beacon, Revolution, False Gods, Market and Garden. Lastly, the “Morituri Pack” enables gladiators to don the savage battle armor of Oswald, King of the Britons.
Be the First to Find the Final In-Game Developer Easter Eggs
Crytek secreted away a total of nine Easter eggs in “Ryse: Son of Rome”– six in the campaign and three in Gladiator mode.
Currently, only five Easter eggs have been found by the Xbox community. To see where they are hidden, watch as the “Ryse: Son of Rome” team, using only their sharp wits and eagle eyes (and a little behind-the-scenes developer magic!), shows you where the following Easter eggs can be found: the Dancing Ladies, the Special Pot, the Streaker, the Sword in the Lake and the Ghost Army.
Intrepid explorers, however, now have the opportunity to be the first in the world to discover the final four.
Use the hints provided by Crytek below to hunt down the Easter eggs and use Xbox One’s Game DVR (tip: use the Kinect voice command “Xbox, record that!”) to record your discovery. Email a OneDrive link to your game clip (here’s how) to Xbox’s Major Nelson at firstname.lastname@example.org with “Ryse Easter Eggs” in the subject line. On Monday, June 2, Major Nelson will announce the locations of the four Easter eggs and the fans who were the first to unearth them.
1.) In the campaign level “The Wrath of the Nemesis,” there’s a Scorpio in a tower that can be used to shoot many things. Enemies. Pillars. Statues. Firing a few volleys at them will reacquaint you with a familiar face, but not at all like you’re expecting.
2.) Hurling a pilum in the water may seem like a waste of lethal weaponry, but if you happen to do it one time too many underneath a certain bridge in the campaign level “Pax Romana,” you will summon a surprise guest.
3.) There’s a courthouse with an open roof in the campaign level “Pax Romana” where your pilum can arrange a shocking introduction. Get reckless with them and see what happens.
4.) Good things come to those who wait in the campaign level “The Son of Rome.” Once you reach the courtyard, duck behind a curtain and hang out on the steps on the other side for a bit. Keep your eyes on the nearby balcony. Makes you wonder how they got up there, right?
