New Fighters Come to EA Sports UFC with Content Update

EA Sports announced an all-new, completely free content update for EA Sports UFC today, including three new fighters, along with new animations, and improvements to the gameplay.

Bantamweight Division Champion T.J. Dillashaw, the current #11 pound-for-pound ranked fighter in the UFC rankings, headlines the new trio. Dillashaw is joined by his bantamweight cohort Takeya Mizugaki, out of Japan – currently ranked #6 among UFC’s bantamweights. Fans may remember that Dillashaw and Mizugaki were set to fight in UFC 173, but Dillashaw was moved up to the main event fight at the last minute – an event he won in spectacular fashion. Now, players can see what
really would have happened, had Dillashaw and Mizugaki faced off.

Rounding out the new group is Tyron Woodley, the current #3 ranked welterweight in UFC, known for his spectacular knockout of Josh Koscheck at UFC 167. All three new fighters are meticulously rendered to resemble their real-world selves, and can be played right away, with no need for unlocking.

Additionally,
EA Sports UFC’s new update gives players new moves, including the ability to “finish the fight” by pouncing on a downed opponent and delivering multiple strikes as the knockout occurs. Players can now also clinch-break when pressed against the cage, by pressing the left thumbstick on their Xbox One controller. Finally, fighters will now automatically sprawl when players successfully defend against a power takedown, giving them a better opportunity to counterattack.

Balance has been improved, too: Stamina no longer regenerates while a player is holding block – a change that prevents turtling tactics – and players take a larger stamina penalty while blocking. And, fighters who don’t normally have power takedowns and side-control sweeps in real-life won’t have them available in
EA Sports UFC anymore, either.

With three exciting new fighters and a host of improvements and additions – all for the low, low cost of absolutely free –
EA Sports UFC has really done right by the players with this first update. See you in the octagon!
