5 Reasons We’re Loving Batman: Arkham Knight

Batman: Arkham Knight is here, and we’re knee deep in criminals and Rogue’s Gallery villains. Arkham Knight is one of the best games of this generation – and by far our favorite game in the Arkham saga. Here are five reasons why.

1) The Batmobile
For the first time in the Arkham series, the Caped Crusader is joined by his slick, badass ride. The Batmobile can switch from car to tank, and is used for movement and combat. After a few upgrades, it’s a highly effective weapon against the enemies filling Gotham City. Plus, you can basically use it as a catapult to launch Batman into the air, which is the greatest.

2) The Story Is Dark as Night
Now, we’re not going to spoil the story for you… but believe us when we say that this is an awesomely dark, terrifying, exciting Batman arc. Anyone familiar with the Scarecrow will know that he can be a very fearsome foe, and Arkham Knight proves that right out of the gate.

3) The Game Makes You Work for It
Batman is the world’s greatest detective, and as such, Arkham Knight expects you to step it up when it comes to being a gumshoe. Missions – such as having to locate a person – don’t just tell you exactly where to go and what to do. Sure, you have a general idea of where to look… but you have to use your slew of gadgets and skills to find the target. It’s a far more satisfying game experience than a simple point A to point B fetch quest.

4) Gotham City Is Huge
Each successive Arkham game has increased the scope of Batman’s adventures, and Arkham Knight expands the world dramatically. This version of Gotham is five times larger than Arkham City’s and it’s split into three distinct areas. Even though the city is mostly evacuated, it still feels very alive and active. Oh and there are zero loading screens, so that’s pretty rad, too.

5) Old Friends Make Great Allies
Throughout the game, you’ll team up with some of Batman’s best buddies, such as Nightwing and Catwoman. Not only can you partner up with them to set up awesome combos and deliver finishing blows to the vile scum of Gotham, but you can also switch and play as them. Each character has slightly different attacks and timing – enough to make them feel distinctive and fun.

Batman: Arkham Knight is available right now on Xbox One. Be the Batman and save the city!
