Halo 5: Guardians NASCAR Paint Schemes to Race at Hollywood Casino 400

Xbox and 343 Industries are partnering with Hendrick Motorsports and Chip Ganassi Racing with Felix Sabates to bring Halo 5: Guardians to life with two Halo-branded NASCAR paint schemes. Driving the Master Chief and Spartan Locke vehicles, respectively, two of NASCAR’s most popular drivers, Dale Earnhardt Jr. (No. 88) and Jamie McMurray (No. 1), take Kansas Speedway by storm on Oct. 18, in their proverbial hunt for the win!

“We’re thrilled to partner with Hendrick Motorsports and Chip Ganassi Racing with Felix Sabates to have Halo 5: Guardians represented on the NASCAR track by two of its most exciting drivers,” said Kiki Wolfkill, Studio Head of the Halo Interactive Entertainment and Channel at 343 Industries. “We have many NASCAR fans at the studio – myself included – and we’re excited to see both cars compete at Kansas Speedway.”

The Hollywood Casino 400 at Kansas Speedway marks the first time in franchise history that Halo will be represented by two cars on the racetrack at the same time. The Master Chief and Spartan Locke paint schemes are echoed in the hunter versus hunted narrative from the Halo 5: Guardians storyline.

“The opportunity to team up with Microsoft and Xbox for the launch of Halo 5: Guardians is very unique,” said Dale Earnhardt Jr., driver of the No. 88 Chevrolet SS for Hendrick Motorsports. “We’ve got a great partnership and it will be fun to highlight aspects of the game on the racetrack with our Master Chief paint scheme.”

“I’m excited to welcome Halo 5: Guardians to the NASCAR audience,” said Jamie McMurray, driver of the No. 1 Chevrolet SS for Chip Ganassi Racing with Felix Sabates. “I’ll be running, and representing, the Spartan Locke paint scheme on our car at the Kansas Speedway and look forward to bringing the excitement of the game to the race track.”

Additionally, starting Oct. 8, fans can join the #HUNTthe88 and #HUNTthe1 Twitter scavenger hunt sweepstakes to uncover the Halo 5: Guardian’s inspired paint schemes. Earnhardt (@DaleJr) and McMurray (@jamiemcmurray) will tweet a clue to the first piece of the puzzle as they encourage fans to help them find their newly painted rides. Ten sweepstakes participants will be chosen at random and receive an Xbox One and autographed copy of Halo 5: Guardians. Two lucky winners of the sweepstakes will be flown into Kansas City to attend the Hollywood Casino 400 from Oct. 16-18 where they’ll receive VIP tickets to the race and a chance to meet with Earnhardt or McMurray.

Halo 5: Guardians – which hits retail shelves on Oct. 27, exclusively for Xbox One – is the next highly anticipated installment in the Halo franchise. Featuring the most ambitious, robust, and epic Halo campaign and multiplayer experience ever created, Halo 5: Guardians tells the ambiguous story of the Master Chief; missing in action and his loyalty in question, amidst a mysterious and unstoppable force that has threatened the galaxy.
