5 Reasons We’re Loving Halo 5: Guardians

Halo 5: Guardians is here, and we’ve been spending plenty of quality time with, following the journeys of the Master Chief and Spartan Locke. And you know we’re playing a ton of multiplayer. If you haven’t checked out Halo 5 yet, listen up: There’s a ton of awesomeness to explore in this game, in every single game mode.

The Master Chief… Plus Friends

Until now, there have been two types of Halo games: the ones that star Master Chief, and the ones that put the spotlight on other characters. It’s a really cool twist to see the series take a dual narrative approach, allowing us to play as eight different Spartans, with their own personalities (and weapon loadouts). This game delivers the most diverse group of characters in Halo to date, and that’s pretty great.

Guns, Guns, and More Guns

You’ll discover dozens of awesome weapons to try out in Halo 5. Longtime fans will see the return of all their favorites… and a lot of weapons you may have overlooked in previous Halo games have been given a remodel. There are always awesome weapons up for grabs during the campaign, so you’ve always got options, no matter where you are.

New Moves Make You Deadlier Than Ever

The new Spartan Abilities create new strategies for fighting enemies. The Spartan Charge move lets you close the space and deal devastating damage. Using the Thruster Pack in the air gives you time to aim some well-placed shots (especially if you’re packing explosives). And the ground pound is a risky move that has a great payoff – and looks really cool.

Warzone Is a Fresh New Multiplayer Mode

Halo 5’s new multiplayer mode, Warzone, is an amazing addition to the series. Featuring some elements of multiplayer online battle arena (MOBA) games while also providing a ton of customization and amazing first-person action on top of that, Warzone is a heavily tactical, no-holds-barred multiplayer mode that is different every time you play. It’s one of the most exciting game modes in any first-person shooter this generation.

It All Still Feels Like Halo

With all these new modes, new mechanics, and new characters, you might be thinking that Halo 5 has changed the franchise a lot more than anyone expected. But at the end of the day, it still feels and plays like the Halo you know and love. Developer 343 Industries has updated the series to be a lot more modern without sacrificing any of the Halo-ness that helped define an entire genre for console gamers.

There’s a ton more to love in Halo 5. The classic multiplayer mode is everything you’d expect from a Halo game. The new characters are some of our favorites in the series. The levels are densely packed with secrets to explore. It’s a game you need to experience. Halo 5: Guardians is out now, exclusively on Xbox One.
