Create Cinematic Battlefield 1 Content on Xbox One

In Battlefield, Spectator mode is a way for players to join a live match as an observer. Both Battlefield 4 and Battlefield Hardline have a Spectator mode but for Battlefield 1 we wanted to improve upon Spectator mode by adding features aimed at our community who love to stream their Battlefield gameplay, those that create cinematic content and for others that are just casual viewers.

Battlefield players on PC have had the ability to create cinematic experiences through external mods and software that could not be achieved on consoles. But for Battlefield 1, we have specifically added Cinematics Tools within Spectator mode that equip all players with the ability to make creative video content and screenshots through built in extensive camera settings. Players will now be able to adjust depth of field settings like camera blur and focus distance while applying various filters like Sepia, Noir and even a filter that mimics the popular art direction from Battlefield 3!

We rebuilt Spectator mode from the ground up for console. We started by gathering feedback from around the Battlefield community and focused a lot of our efforts on improving the usability and flow of moving from player-to-player as well as switching between the different view modes (first-person, third-person and free camera).

Another key design emphasis for us was to make Spectator mode a viable tool for users to create content. We specifically focused our effort on making Spectator mode and its options easy to use and controller friendly through shortcuts and settings available on the fly. Anyone should be able to hop into a match and make those Only in Battlefield moments shine through the use of these tools.

Users will find that creating great content will be easy and intuitive. For those who want the ability to fine tune the settings of multiple cameras in a match, they will have those options available to them and they’ll be able to create a signature look for their content.

Moving forward, our goal is to continue to gather feedback from the Battlefield community and build on this foundation weve created for future updates and titles.

We can’t wait to see the amazing content our fans will create with the help of these tools!
