In Warhammer: End Times – Vermintide, our epic first-person co-op melee shooter set in the dark and dangerous Warhammer Fantasy world, five brave heroes have desperately been trying to drive out the dreaded rat-men known as Skaven from the overrun city of Ubersreik. While their efforts have started to pay off, the Skaven never cease to plot and their beady eyes have now been cast on the Dwarfen fortress of Karak Azgaraz! They must be warned, or the Dwarfs will certainly face a gruesome fate. The fight continues in Karak Azgaraz, a new downloadable content pack for Vermintide that includes new weapons, maps, quests, and more!
Explore three stunning new maps in the Karak Azgaraz DLC and enter a world of snow and ice. Battle the Skaven through the ancient halls of Khazid Kro in search of the Dwarfen engineer Halgrim. Make your way through chambers of cold stone, fighting off the rat-men while standing on the edge of lava-filled pits.
The Skaven are also on the hunt for The Cursed Rune. Our heroes must fight their way past the enemy and across the snow-covered Grey Mountains and Dwarfen structures in search of the vault. But will you make it there before the Skaven get it?
And lastly, the beacons of old that stand on top of the mountains need to be lit to warn the nearby settlements of the approaching Skaven army. Make your way through the snow and light the beacon and start the Chain of Fire before it’s too late.
New Weapons and Achievements
The DLC would not be complete without some savage new weapons thrown into the mix. Karak Azgaraz introduces two epic new weapons as well as eight new Achievements for you to try and complete.
Bardin Goreksson, our feisty Dwarf Ranger, has improved his arsenal with the Warpick and he can’t wait to give the Skaven a few new breathing holes with it. With its two-step heavy attack, Bardin becomes a lethal force on the battlefield. This Dwarfen weapon can only be acquired by completing Karak Azgaraz missions.
Victor Saltzpyre, the ever-judging Witch Hunter, is quite pleased with his newest weapon – the Falchion. This sharp one-edged sword can behead Skaven and Stormvermin with ease, and Victor can’t wait to swing it at the vile rat-men. Just like with the Warpick, the Falchion can only be looted by finishing missions in the Karak Azgaraz DLC.
Quests & Contracts
In addition to various fixes and tweaks to the game, a whole new system to support and reinforce the existing loot system has been introduced as well. Refreshed daily, these quests and contracts have various tasks attached to them; some are one-off tasks while others are more extensive. Since contracts are usually shorter, the reward is usually crafting tokens or a Boon (more on that soon).
Quests are longer and require the completion of several contracts, but once handed in give you either a weapon, trinket or a hat. Both can be found on the Bounty Board in the Red Moon Inn. This update also introduces a new form of reward called a Boon. These timed power-ups are attached to contracts, so once you’ve completed the task and handed it in, the Boon will activate. These boosted abilities are an excellent tool for taking on tough challenges, like Last Stand or Cataclysm.
With all of this and more to come, there has never been a better time to jump in to Vermintide!
