Marcus Fenix Rises in Gears of War: Ultimate Edition

During Microsoft’s E3 2015 press conference we got our first look at Gears of War 4, and it looks utterly incredible. But it’s also a long ways off – by which we mean the holiday season of 2016. But fear not, because you can still get some Locust-killing action in this year when Marcus Fenix returns in Gears of War: Ultimate Edition for Xbox One and Windows 10.

Gears of War: Ultimate Edition takes the original game and gives it a 1080p upgrade, with buttery smooth 60-frames-per-second multiplayer completely rebuilt graphics and lots of new tweaks. At E3 we got the chance to play a few rounds of multiplayer, and man, is it good to come back home. Even almost a decade later, Gears of War is still that gritty, visceral, fun-as-hell shooter you know. Since the series has made a number of improvements since its inception, developer The Coalition fine-tuned some elements to make Gears of War: Ultimate Edition a tighter, more accurate shooter than its original incarnation.

But this is still very much Gears of War. There’s an intimacy to the original game. It’s a very in-your-face, close-quarters affair, with plenty of opportunity for payback. Everything that made Gears great is still in here in full force, and we’re excited to jump into the full version.

If you can’t wait for Gears of War: Ultimate Edition, we’ve got some great news: The beta is available on Xbox One right now. Register at GearsofWar.com, watch the Gears Booth Camp video series, and take your Lancer to the face of your foes.
