Xbox Fitness Rings NASDAQ Opening Bell to Celebrate 3rd Annual “Fit Week”

Microsoft and Xbox Fitness rang the famous Opening Bell on Wall Street this morning in celebration of NASDAQ’s third annual “Fit Week.”  During the first week of trading each year, NASDAQ hosts a week of bell ceremonies featuring companies that help Americans lead healthier lifestyles.

Dave McCarthy, general manager of lifestyle entertainment for Microsoft Studios, and celebrity trainer Tracy Anderson rang the NASDAQ bell, while members of the Xbox Fitness team provided live demos for the crowd.

Since Xbox One launched on Nov. 22,
more than one million fitness fans have visited the virtual Xbox Fitness gym.

“In addition to featuring the world’s best fitness videos, we also offer custom content like Tracy Anderson’s
Transform workout that was developed uniquely for Xbox One,” said McCarthy. “We are excited about the potential for Xbox Fitness to help millions of people stay motivated, workout more effectively and have fun while getting in shape with the world’s top trainers.”

With the new Xbox Fitness service on Xbox One, Microsoft takes the world’s most popular fitness videos and makes them interactive with Kinect technology. Xbox Fitness can read your heart rate without a monitor, see which muscles are most engaged by measuring the power, force and transfer of weight in your body, and track the quality of your performance by measuring your balance, tempo and form.

Xbox Fitness includes an extensive library of workouts from the world’s most popular fitness brands, including Jillian Michaels, Tracy Anderson, Beachbody (P90X® and INSANITY® and more), Anchor Bay (a Starz company) and Mossa.

Xbox Fitness is free with your Xbox Live Gold membership until 2015, only on Xbox One. For more information, check out
