War of the Worlds

I decided to go see “War of the Worlds” tonight. Pretty darn scary. There were many trademark Spielberg moment like the rustling of trees tops that foreshadow the monsters attacking (Jurrasic Park) and a couple of Tom Cruise’s standard action movie moments like the usual shot of him sprinting toward the camera as all hell breaks loose behind him (Minority Report, Mission Impossible etc.) but I enjoyed it. There were also a few nods to the original 1953 version that I won’t call out so as not to spoil the film. It’s a solid summer action flick that has some dark moments, but was a good ride.
