During Velasquez and Silva’s initial confrontation at UFC 146 in May 2012, Velasquez scored an early takedown and battered his Brazilian opponent until doctors stopped the bout in the first round. Since then, Silva has picked up two consecutive wins over top-tier opponents, including a stunning third-round knockout over former Strikeforce champion Alistair Overeem, and is hungry to avenge his loss to the current champ.

Velasquez, however, has no intentions of relinquishing his belt. After taking the Heavyweight title back from Junior dos Santos in a grueling unanimous decision victory in 2012, Velasquez will be looking to repeat the success of his first fight with Silva and cement his legacy in the division.
