Race Drivers Set Guinness World Record in “Forza Race for the Record” Challenge

Lap records aren’t exactly a new occurrence for Forza Motorsport 5 players but, on November 7, a group of Forza fans in Shanghai, China set a record of a different type: the kind that will be found in the Guinness Book of World Records, to be exact. The Microsoft Online Store “Forza Race for the Record” featured 22 two-driver teams who competed in a series of races in Forza Motorsport 5 to set a new record. This event, sponsored by Microsoft Online Store, was the first large-scale fan event in China since the recent launch of Xbox One in the country.

During the event, the 22 teams were challenged to race through three tracks from
Forza Motorsport 5: Yas Marina, Indianapolis Motor Speedway, and Le Mans. The winners of the “Forza Race for the Record” were then revealed during the Top Gear China premiere in Shanghai on November 12 in front of an audience of more than 1,000 fans, media and celebrities. Proving real-life race experience can apply to the virtual world, the winners of the record were professional race drivers Ho-Pin Tung and David Cheng (both of whom raced in the real-life 24 Hours of Le Mans race in 2014) with a total time of 3 hours, 4 minutes and 38 seconds.
