Ascendance Adds Nastier Zombies and Beefier Guns to Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare

The second downloadable content pack for Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare – titled Ascendance – hit Xbox One recently, and added a slew of new content for your Exo soldiers. If you haven’t checked it out yet, we’ve got all the juicy details for you before you strap on your Exo and leap into the action.

Master New Maps
Ascendance features four new maps for multiplayer, ranging from small to large – and like all the Advanced Warfare maps, they feature their own unique gameplay twists.

* Perplex is a five-story apartment complex in beautiful Sydney. Construction drones systematically move the modules, creating a changing environment. Tight corridors and lots of windows facilitate a variety of strategies.

* Site 244 is a map set at Mount Rushmore, wherein an alien ship has crash landed at the base of the Presidential monument. Getting a scorestreak grants you some alien spore perks and exo boosts.

* Climate – a circular bio-dome – offers a lush, perfect environment for wanton destruction. The central island is great for king of the hill situations, and the changing rivers around the map add dangerous obstacles and challenges.

* Chop Shop is a particularly cool map in terns of aesthetic and mythos. This black market exoskeleton lab and warehouse is a mazelike corridor setup. Watch out for the turret that appears when someone activates the map’s scorestreak!

Battle Back to Burgertown
Ascendance continues the story of Exo Zombies after the first episode from the previous Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare DLC pack, Havoc. The four survivors have made it to the edge of the Atlas Corporation’s facility, fighting mutants the whole way. But now, they face newer, deadlier enemies. Featured in this episode: the return of Burgertown, the preferred fast food chain of Call of Duty zombies everywhere.

Lock and/or Load a Sweet New Gun
The DLC packs for Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare each feature a new weapon. For Ascendance, it’s the OHM Directed Energy Hybrid Weapon. What the heck does that mean? Well it’s an energy-based weapon that gives you two gun styles at once: There’s a SMG mode for crowd control and suppression fire, and a shotgun mode for those glorious finishing shots. It’s seriously one of the coolest weapons in this game… or any other Call of Duty game.

The Ascendance DLC pack is available now on Xbox One and Xbox 360. If you haven’t picked up Havoc, we recommend that as well – particularly if you are interested in the Exo Zombies storyline that stars John Malkovich, Rose McGowan, and Bill Paxton.
