Acclaimed Artists Create a Quartet of Original Rise of the Tomb Raider Posters
With Rise of the Tomb Raider launching exclusively on Xbox One and Xbox 360 on November 10, Xbox and Crystal Dynamics have a unique opportunity to tell the story of Lara Croft, gaming’s first lady – and her journey from survivor to Tomb Raider. And to celebrate this week’s San Diego Comic-Con 2015, we’re announcing a limited-edition series of Rise of the Tomb Raider-inspired posters, designed and drawn by four famous artists: Geof Darrow, Frank Kozik, La Boca, and Tara McPherson.
Each of these amazing posters highlights one of the game’s unique and thrilling themes. The first one, created by comic book artist Geof Darrow (known for his work on “Hard Boiled” and “The Big Guy and Rusty the Boy Robot”), is inspired by Rise of the Tomb Raider’s tense woman-versus-wild nature. Check it out in all its glory!
“I wanted to place Lara in absolute danger,” said Darrow, speaking to his goals for the poster. “A pack of wild wolves wasn’t enough… so I figured she should fight a giant bear, too. Just when you think it can’t get any worse for her, I put her on the edge of a cliff. But she’s a superhero, and immortal. Even though Lara is in the most extreme situation imaginable, you know she’s going to going to live to tell the tale.”
And that’s the tame version, too: “I originally had her fighting even more wolves, but pulled it back so that I could bring her character into focus more.”
SDCC attendees have the chance to snag their very own autographed copy of Geof Darrow’s new Rise of the Tomb Raider print. If you’re at the show, come to the Xbox Lounge at the Manchester Grand Hyatt (Seaport Ballroom, 2nd Floor) from 3:00-4:00 p.m. on Friday, July 10, 2015, and help us celebrate the awesomeness of Lara Croft and Geof Darrow!
