Homefront: The Revolution Gets a Date and an Xbox One Beta in February

Deep Silver’s tense open-world first-person shooter Homefront: The Revolution aims – oddly enough – to start a revolution. Guerrilla warfare is the name of the game, and it’s up to you to lead the titular Resistance against superior forces as you attempt to liberate the war-torn streets of near-future Philadelphia from the Korean People’s Army. You only have to wait until May 17, when Homefront: The Resistance hits Xbox One… but if you just can’t wait that long, you just might be able to jump into the just announced beta, which is coming exclusively to Xbox One in February.

Now, being a closed beta, the spots are limited. You’ll be able to gain access by earning yourself an Xbox One Beta Token, which will be given out during several promotions in the coming weeks, both here on Xbox.com and at the official Homefront website. So, keep your eyes peeled!

The brand-new trailer above, “This Is Philadelphia,” gives you a taste of what you’re in for, with a chilling glimpse at life in the occupied city. Philadelphia’s most densely populated areas are called “Yellow Zones” – and it is here where the citizens are kept in a vise grip of oppression and fear, thanks to the KPA’s military lockdown and 24-hour propaganda.

But the Resistance is hard at work here, hiding in plain sight. You are one of these freedom fighters, discovering tactical locations from which to launch attacks, and disrupting the KPA’s activities. You’ll move around Homefront: The Revolution’s living, breathing world – saving lives, assassinating KPA officials, and going up against superior firepower against all odds. And that’s just the single-player campaign, too; you can team up with friends to form a co-op Resistance cell!

The revolution starts in next month’s Xbox One closed beta. Keep your eyes on Xbox Wire in the coming weeks for more details!
