Sheltered’s Bloodlines Update is Available Now for Xbox One

Sheltered has seen many updates since entering the Xbox One Game Preview program, but none have been quite as significant as this one. Available now, the Bloodlines Update brings an important feature with it – the ability to extend your core family unit.

The team here on Sheltered have been very hard at work designing and implementing a way for this to be achieved. This feature works much like a quest, as your long lost relative has been travelling the wasteland alone, scared, and detached from the rest of the family. It’s up to you to find them and bring them into the safety of your shelter.

We’ve been careful to keep the back story of the family member vague, as we prefer players in Sheltered to create their own stories. It’s your choice as a player to decide the relationship this new family member has with your main characters. They could be an aunt, an uncle, a nephew, or any other member. The choice really is yours.

Bloodlines is a way for you to gain an extra life. When the main family unit dies, the game is over. It doesn’t matter if you’ve recruited extra residents from the wasteland, it’s all about your original family. Keeping them alive is a difficult task, and it can be quite traumatic when one of them dies, but we feel this makes each playthrough have more meaning. However, with the Bloodlines update, you’ve now got the opportunity to keep surviving a while longer if you’re successful in finding your lost family member.

But, that’s not all we’ve added with the release of the Bloodlines update! We’ve been very busy working on the game and we’ve managed to bring you another 4 new quests, lots of changes, and balancing and over 130 bug fixes! The new quests include The Sickness, The Doll, Arms Dealer and On the Road Again, which gives players the opportunity to reclaim their RV if it’s stolen (only appears on fresh saves).

This is an important update for Sheltered, and one that brings us very near to finalizing the game’s fundamental mechanics, which is incredibly exciting for all of us behind the scenes working on the game.

If you’re new to Sheltered, thanks for taking the time to read this post! The game is currently available to download via the Xbox One Game Preview program, and comes with a free one-hour trial if you’d like to try it out first.

We really hope you enjoy the new Bloodlines update, and please do share your tales from the wasteland with us over on our offical Sheltered forums.
