Overworld Update & Redstone Specialist Skins Now Powering-Up Minecraft

Hello everyone!

Minecraft’s first major update of the year on Minecraft: Windows 10 Edition Beta and Minecraft: Pocket Edition, the Overworld Update, is rolling out now. This update adds a ton of new gameplay functionality with additional redstone components, armor-dyeing, item frames, maps, slime blocks, wearable pumpkins, and more hostile mobs with the addition of witches and chicken jockeys. If you have the Windows 10 Edition Beta, you can also import and export maps and grab 170 new Gamerscore across eight new achievements.

Now that there are so many redstone goodies to play with in-game, players can have their character look the part of a redstone master, with a new pack of skins out today called the Redstone Specialists. These skins are inspired by the amazing types of redstone builds we’ve seen our community create, and you can download the Composer and Artisan skins to play with for free. If you’d like to sport the costumes of the rest of this pack of mad scientists and creators, you can grab the whole pack of 15 skins for $1.99 or local equivalent.

Be sure to also catch the celebratory livestream for this update today, February 18th, at 10 a.m. PST, where Minecraft developers Tommo, Daniel, Shoghi and Jason will be racing to complete a tricky Redstone Puzzle Map made with components of today’s update. The livestream will be viewable simultaneously on the Team Mojang YouTube channel and the official Minecraft twitch channel, so be sure to stop by and say hello! You can also test your redstone knowledge and download the puzzle map to try on your own for free.

With so much new content to play with, there’s never been a better time to check out these editions of Minecraft! You can find more information on the Windows 10 Edition Beta over at the Windows Store, and Pocket Edition on the iOS App Store, Google Play, Amazon and the Windows Store.

Have fun, Minecrafters!
