Hey there! My name is Sean Krankel, I’m one of the co-founders of Night School Studio. We’re a small team of developers, originally from Telltale and Disney in Los Angeles, with a passion for telling stories in new ways.
Our first game, Oxenfree, is a supernatural thriller set in the Pacific Northwest. In it, you play as a girl named Alex who unwittingly opens a rift in time and space, and her friends go from partying to possessed.
It was our passion to make a game that felt like the Steven Spielberg films of the 80s and 90s, one where very mortal, terrifying events can unfold, yet the people involved can still have a sense of wonder. We’ve always thought of Oxenfree as a mix between “Stand By Me” and “Poltergeist”, but we’ve also heard that the mind-bending elements of the story push it into a whole other freaky territory.
We’re so honored that the press and fans have responded to our weird, funny, scary game with such overwhelming positivity over the last couple months! There’s a lot of heart in this game, and I’m looking forward to many more gamers getting lost on Edwards Island (where Oxenfree takes place).
Be sure to grab Oxenfree during this week’s ID@Xbox Game Fest sale!
