Smite Console League Heats Up

The Gods are at war — and $100,000 is on the line.

The best Smite teams in the world are facing off in the Smite Console League Summer Split right now. Ten teams have entered, but only four will qualify for the Summer Split Finals.

Never heard of Smite? It’s the most popular MOBA on console, with more than 150,000 people playing every day on Xbox One. Unlike other MOBAs, Smite is played from a third-person action perspective, putting you right in the heart of the combat.

In Smite, players become one of 75+ Gods from ancient mythology like the mighty Zeus, Greek God of the Sky, or the magical Kukulkan, the Mayan Serpent of the Nine Winds. Then teams work together to unleash their deities’ unique strategies, legendary weapons, and earth-shattering powers.

The best Xbox One Smite players in the world face off every Thursday, Friday, and Monday in the Smite Console League Summer Split.

Games are live (in EDT) from:

  • 3 p.m. – 8:15 p.m. Thursdays
  • 1 p.m. – 4:30 p.m. Fridays
  • 3 p.m. – 4:45 p.m. Mondays

But this regular season will come to an end on Aug. 1, with the Summer Split Finals to follow on Aug. 20 and 21.

The top two teams in North America and the top two teams in Europe will fly to Hi-Rez Studios’ in-house esports arena, where they’ll compete in a single elimination tournament for the largest share of the $100,000 at stake this split — and the title of Summer Split Champions.

If the Summer Split ended today, these four teams would qualify for the Summer Split Finals:

  • Most Wanted eSports (8-0)
Sitting atop the North American Smite Console League are the undefeated behemoths Most Wanted eSports. Support Matthew “Matt Koiz” Morales is making a statement this season, leading his new squad ahead of his old teammates on Team Eager.
  • Team Eager (8-2)
Team Eager is right on Most Wanted eSport’s heels. Arguably the most experienced team in the Smite Console League, with three-fifths of the team playing together for more than a year, it’s their new stud Mid laner Joshua “Delta Marine72” Gratton who is quickly making a name for himself.
  • Barrage eSports (8-2)
The leaders of the European Smite Console League, Barrage earned a spot on top after a breakout Week Three performance where they won five of six games. Solo laner Jack “Watson” Watson anchored the team during the dominant weekend, recording a 7.28 KDA on Ravana, Tyr, and Guan Yu.
  • Team Rival (7-3)
Coming into last week, Team Rival was tied with Barrage eSports for the title of best in EU. Now sitting just one game back, can Support Dávid “Zenborne” Péntek, a veteran of Europe’s top team last season, lead his team back into first?

We’re excited to see how the rest of the Smite Console League Summer Split plays out. Be sure to watch live at https://www.twitch.tv/hireztv, and follow https://twitter.com/smitepro for updates.

Of course, this Summer Split of the Smite Console League is just part of the run up to the Smite Console League World Championship, to be held as part of the Hi-Rez Expo Jan. 5-8 at the Cobb Energy Performing Arts Centre in Atlanta, Georgia. Stay tuned for more updates!
