Gears Ink Celebrates Fans, Dedication
Tattoos are a tradition in the Gears of War universe; our team members have them, our characters have them, and it wasn't long after the original Gears of War (2006) arrived that fans began sharing Gears-inspired tattoos they had chosen for themselves.
Even more remarkable than the tattoos are the stories they tell; of devotion not just to the game but to of friendships, relationships and marriages of people who met while playing online.
Last year, we reached out to the Gears community with a chance to share their stories and have their ink “remastered” by legendary tattoo artist Steve Soto to celebrate the next-gen release of the original Gears of War.
This year, with the release of Gears of War 4, we had the opportunity to reunite with Steve Soto and and tell the stories of Ariel and Ricardo, two brothers hailing from Brazil whose love for Gears helped them transition to the US, and Brennon O’Neil (aka GoldGlove) and Geo Garramore (aka Actabunnifoofoo), who met and became close friends playing Gears.
If you have a story that you'd like to share with the Gears community, let us know on Facebook or Twitter. Tag you story with #MyGearsMoment #XboxContest and you'll have a chance to win some cool prizes, including a Gears of War 4 Limited Edition Xbox One, a game session with Liam McIntyre (voice of JD Fenix) or a tattoo from Steve Soto.
