Top 10 Moments from Gears of War 4: Live

Gears of War 4 is set to introduce a thrilling new saga to gamers worldwide on October 11 (or October 7 for fans who purchased Gears of War 4: Ultimate Edition), and last night’s Gears of War 4 Live broadcast gave fans a taste of what to expect. In case you missed it, the full 90-minute broadcast is available to watch online, with a highlight reel of the show’s biggest moments above and some of our favorite segments listed below.

Bringing Gears of War to the Big Screen – One of the biggest announcements from Gears of War 4 Live came when The Coalition Studio Head Rod Fergusson announced a partnership with Universal Studios and Bluegrass Films to produce a Gears of War film.

Run the Jewels Make Their Gears of War 4 debut – After much anticipation, renowned hip-hop duo Killer-Mike and El-P revealed their in-game multiplayer characters, giving fans the chance to “Panther Like a Panther” in Horde 3.0, Dodgeball, Escalation, and more.

Voice Actors’ Round Table – Speaking to the Gears of War 4 story and the challenge of bringing a new generation of heroes to life, Liam McIntyre (Spartacus, The Flash), Laura Bailey (Halo 5: Guardians, Final Fantasy XIII) and Eugene Byrd (Bones, Arrow) shared insight into their respective roles as JD Fenix, Kait Diaz, and Del Walker.

Gears of War: State of the Universe – Since our last installment of Gears, a lot has happened on Sera. This retrospective piece provided fans with a refresher of the story thus far and acted to whet fans’ appetite for the first chapter of a new Gears saga.

Gears Ink 2.0 – A member of the Gears team marked their dedication to Gears of War in style with a live inking by renowned tattoo artist Steve Soto.

The Art of War – Viewers of Gears of War 4 Live were given an exclusive behind-the-scenes look at a special Gears Art exhibition, held this past Saturday, featuring never-before-seen images from the Gears of War universe, new concept art from Gears of War 4 and original Gears-inspired artwork by Tony Moore.

Gears Cosplay – Get an inside look at how some of the most dedicated and passionate Gears fans in the world created some of the most stunningly intricate and authentic costumes you’ve ever seen. 

Never Fight Alone – Featuring interviews from developers and other industry veterans, fans were treated to an exploration of what the Gears of War franchise means to both gaming and entertainment.

PAX “First to 50” Competition Highlights – Relive all the best moments from the “First to 50” competition at PAX Prime as guests from Xbox and two superstar squads – captained by GoldGlove and FemSteph – competed to survive 50 brutal waves of the all-new Horde 3.0 mode.

Gears of War eSports Live Showcase – In a battle of some of the top Gears eSports teams, OpTic Gaming, the current top ranked team took on Infinity, a famed legacy top ranked team to see who would dominate in Gears of War 4’s new heart-pounding competitive mode, Escalation.

Starting tomorrow, fans can get into the action early by purchasing Gears of War 4: Ultimate Edition from their local retailer, including Microsoft Stores and microsoftstore.com. Along with four-day early access to the game, Gears of War 4 includes the entire Xbox 360 Gears of War collection for Xbox One at no additional cost.
