10 (More) Great Games to Play on Valentine’s Day
Nothing screams love and devotion like being able to sit down on the couch and blast a bunch of enemies or solve puzzles together on Xbox One. We’re following up our lovely list from a few years ago with another batch of great games to play with your special someone this Valentine’s Day, like the iconic Gears of War 4, radical Rocket League, or playful Lego Star Wars: The Force Awakens. Read on for more recommendations for you to play with your special someone today.
Gears of War 4
There’s something about the Crimson Omen that just screams happy bloody Valentine’s Day. And there’s no better tool to help you enjoy this day than a chainsaw strapped to the bottom of an all-powerful assault rifle. Yes, this is the perfect time to make your love official with a pair of Lancers, as you and your loved one sit down on the couch for some head-stomping, gut-blasting excitement in Gears of War 4. Even better, the game also doubles as a means to work out any issues the two of you may have, thanks to a variety of local versus multiplayer options. And don’t forget to partake in some Cupid Torque Bow Tag this week as well!
Borderlands: The Handsome Collection
Trust us, you have nothing to worry about from a man named Handsome Jack stealing your lover away from you on Valentine’s Day. Why are we so confident? Well, for one he’s a psychopath (and if they’re into that, you’re better off). And two, you’ll both be armed to the teeth to fight him off across two great games. For the more adventurous of you out there, up to four players can join in together for some split-screen fun… if you’re into that kinda thing.
Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare
The universe needs saving, so strap on your gravity boots, and check each other’s six as you take on one of the most-engaging multiplayer games in Call of Duty‘s long history. Team up together in local split-screen co-op to take on other players, or slay some space zombies in one of the most gleefully over-the-top takes on this now-iconic mode.
How to Survive 2
You know the old saying: The couple that makes shelters and weapons to fight off hordes of zombies together, stays together. Strive for a better tomorrow and live in the moment as you set out to make a living together in the swamps of Louisiana. The upside to the zombie apocalypse is that the housing market is great all times of the year. Be on the lookout for the zombie love bites.
Lego Star Wars: The Force Awakens
Chances are you saw the movie together, why not sit down and play it together! With “Star Wars: The Force Awakens” as the backdrop for this collectible co-op teamwork adventure, this is sure to be a night made in geeky heaven for the both of you. And yes, it’s perfectly fine to still be playing with Lego as two consenting adults.
Lovers in a Dangerous Spacetime
Available now through Games with Gold, travel on a starship with your lover across a dangerous space… time. Every role on the ship is important, thus Lovers in a Dangerous Spacetime is the perfect way for you to learn how to depend on one another, by barking orders. “Man that laser!” “Take control of that turret!” “Control the thrusters!” As you can tell, Lovers helps to also work out who truly wears the pants (or who gets which leg) in your relationship.
Manual Samuel
Manual Samuel will test your resolves in cooperation as you steer Samuel’s fate away from Death itself. By sharing portions of Samuel’s bodily functions, from breathing to driving, the two of you must prove your ultimate skills in teamwork if you hope to see him survive this hilarious ordeal.
Pit People (Game Preview)
There’s such an extreme variety of foes that you’ll face together in Pit People‘s apocalyptic wonderland, from brutal cupcake people, to blood-sucking vampires, to evil electrobots, that if you can come out on the winning side there’s nothing that can stop the two of you.
Plants vs Zombies: Garden Warfare 2
In the words of the immortal Joe Dirt, “Life’s a garden, dig it.” Or in the case of Plants vs Zombies: Garden Warfare 2, “Life’s a garden, shoot it!” Take a seat on the couch with your favorite loved one, pick your preferred plant, and enjoy some split-screen botanical battles to see what life in zombie suburbia might be like for the two of you. Don’t judge this plant by its cover. Underneath that lush green exterior is an extremely deep and engaging multiplayer game.
Rocket League
If you and your special someone are looking for one of the best pick-up-and-play games available today, you can do little wrong than by booting up some Rocket League and letting those sparks fly. And by sparks we mean the giant soccer balls you’re “kicking” in net, and by flying we mean your sweet rides as they tumble through the air. Seriously, it’s great. Go play it together.
Happy Valentine’s Day from your friends at Xbox Wire!
