Team Up with Sam Fisher During Ghost Recon Wildlands Free Weekend, April 12-15

Ghost Recon Wildlands begins its second year of post-launch content starting April 10, when the first of four major free updates, called Special Operations I, goes live for players who own the game on Xbox One. Adding new items, missions, and features, each Special Operations update will bring a substantial amount of new content, both for the campaign and for the Ghost War PvP mode – and the first update includes an appearance from Splinter Cell’s Sam Fisher, which you can try for free this weekend along with the rest of the game.

Voiced again by series veteran Michael Ironside, Sam appears during a new mission in which the Ghosts help him infiltrate an enemy camp at night, protect him from waves of enemies while he hacks a terminal, and then help extract him to a rallying point. Pull it off, and you’ll earn special rewards, including Sam’s classic three-lensed night-vision goggles.

The first update, Special Operations I, also adds the ability to customize the appearance of your AI companions in single-player, while on the PvP side, you’ll get a new mode – Sabotage, which comes with five exclusive maps – as well as a new Ghost War class. While the Special Operations updates are free, players can secure seven-day early access to the new Ghost War classes by purchasing the Year 2 pass for $29.99, which also includes a customization pack, four Special Ops crates, and four Ghost War crates, all of which add more customization options to the campaign and multiplayer.

If you don’t yet have Ghost Recon Wildlands, this weekend is a perfect opportunity to try it for free. Beginning at 12:01 AM PDT on April 12, Xbox Live Gold members can download the game for free and play all of its content – including the Splinter Cell mission – until 11:59 PM PDT on April 15. If you want to keep playing after the free weekend is over, you’ll be able to get Ghost Recon Wildlands on sale from April 12 through April 23. The Standard and Deluxe editions will be available for 60% off, while the Gold Edition – which includes the original Season Pass – is 67% off. If you’d rather get the original Season Pass by itself (which includes the Narco Road and Fallen Ghosts expansions), it’s also on sale for 50% off.
