Resident Evil 2 Remake Coming to Xbox One on January 25

The Resident Evil series revolutionized the survival horror genre in video games, bringing terror to the masses with its blend of realistic zombies, gore, environmental puzzles, and memorable locales. Now, 20 years after its initial release in 1998, Capcom has announced that a remake of Resident Evil 2 will be hitting Xbox One on January 25, 2019.

Resident Evil 2 will be a complete remake of the original game, albeit one updated more modern gameplay mechanics, improved over-the-shoulder camera, and gorgeous visuals thanks to the RE Engine that helped to power last year’s terrifying Resident Evil 7 biohazard. The game has been built from the ground up to make Raccoon City’s shambling hordes of zombies scarier than ever before.

Old-school fans of the series will be happy to hear that the game’s two main protagonists have returned for more zombie-slaying. Fan favorites Leon S. Kennedy, a rookie cop dealing with a cataclysmic undead outbreak on his first day on the job, and Claire Redfield, a college student searching for her brother Chris, are back and looking better than ever.

This time out, you’ll be able to see the game’s events from both of their perspectives, exploring iconic locations including the Raccoon City Police Department, a former museum that can be explored for clues and will be presented in a way never before seen by fans.

You can be sure that we’ll be bringing you more on Resident Evil 2 as we get closer to the game’s release on Xbox One on January 25, 2019. For all of the latest on this game and more, be sure to keep it locked to Xbox Wire.
