What Enemies Lurk in the Darkness in Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice?

We’re less than three weeks away from launching Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice, and we couldn’t be more excited!

If you’re a fan of FromSoftware’s wildly creative, often disturbing, and always nuanced enemy design, you’re probably going to find a lot to like in this game.  Specifically in Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice, they’ve been able to leverage the game’s new mechanics to create some truly cinematic moments with larger-than-life enemies such as the Great Serpent.

The gaming world was given a brief taste of this encounter in our Gamescom and E3 demos, but the sequence in the actual game is more involved.  I wouldn’t dare spoil exactly how it goes down, but when talking about how it makes one feel, the words “tense” and “frightening” certainly come to mind.

While combat is the focus of this game, the Great Serpent encounter serves as an example of FromSoftware taking Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice’s features in a brand new direction for the studio – high stakes stealth while using a variety of traversal mechanics such as wall clinging and the grappling hook, a massive, terrifying enemy, and some of the most visceral animations out there.  Putting all these things together allowed them to create a highly memorable experience that is without a doubt, uniquely “Sekiro”.

We can’t wait for players to get their hands on Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice on March 22nd and meet the Great Serpent for themselves.

Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice is available for now for pre-order on the Microsoft Store for Xbox One. Pre-order customers will receive the Sekiro Prosthetic Arm Avatar Item and Sekiro Grappling Hook Avatar Item within 10 days of the game’s launch.
