Phantasy Star Online 2 New Genesis: The Sands of Retem are Calling
Sandstrom Requiem has arrived, and the sands of Retem are calling! Phantasy Star Online 2 New Genesis has unveiled a new region and exciting new content. You’ll be able to level your ARKS Defender to 35 and check out the new Class Skills and Elemental Techniques. Challenge yourself at new Trainia and Battledia training facilities, explore the new Titles feature, combat new enemies, acquire new items, and unveil new Story Tasks.
Level up and get your skill on
In order to take on the new enemies and travails that await you in Retem, you’ll need some more power, and there’s no better way to achieve this than gaining levels in your favorite class and gaining a few new Class Skills or Techniques. The level cap has been raised to 35 and all classes will receive a new Class Skill! Some of these skills make classes much more lethal on the battlefield. For instance, the Hunter Class Skill Sword Arts Charge Avenger will cause you to unleash a Photon Art enhanced with Hunter Arts Avenger when you’re hit by an enemy while charging a Photon Art.
The Force class also receives a potent upgrade in the form of Technique Domination, which will increase the Force’s damage dealt to Downed enemies with all Techniques. Additionally, new Elemental Techniques have been added! Now, not only Fire, Ice, and Lightning come at the call of the Bouncer, Techter, or Force, but also Wind, Light, and Dark. Cast Gigrants to surround yourself with a flurry of light blades or let fly a tornado of wind by casting Gizan!
Battle it out
Two new Battledia are arriving for ARKS to train in; Battledia: Yellow, Retem Troopers, and Battledia: Purple, Retem Devastators! Team up with your Alliance members or friends to gain great experience and Enhancement materials! Battledia can be accessed through specific Trigger Portals by using five of the appropriate B-Triggers. You may even nab some rare drops!
Become Titled
The Titles system has come to NGS! Acquire various titles and gain SG (Star Gems). Star Gems can be used for cosmetic items from the SG Scratch Ticket collection or at the in-game SG Store to unlock premium features, such as a Mission Pass Gold Ticket or Material Storage.
Rare Drops
Along with discovering a new Region, ARKS has discovered a few new Weapon Series. Several 5-star Rarity Weapon Series are coming, and you’ll be able to evaluate which series will work best for your playstyle and class. Additionally, with a little luck you can find color variant weapons from some of these series that have alternate graphics when executing actions. Of course, you’ll need to protect yourself from the new enemies, so there will also be 5-star Rarity armor and new Augments. What is most exciting to some is the introduction of the Add Preset Skills option at the Item Lab. Instead of starting all over on Enhancement for a new weapon with a Preset Skill, you can tack a Preset Skill onto your already Enhanced weapon. You can get more power by spending less Enhancement materials and N-Meseta.
Story time
As long as you’re caught up on the Main Story (having completed Chapter 1) you’ll be tasked with exploring the new Retem region. You’ll need to navigate the desolate dunes in search of oases and civilization, eliminating DOLLS units along the way. Once in Retem City, keep your ears peeled and listen carefully to what’s said (and sung) around you. The inhabitants of the city have quite a few Side Tasks they need help with, and you’re just the defender they need. There even happen to be a few ARKS Training Instructors stationed in Retem City, and one who’ll have Limited-time Tasks for advanced ARKS Defenders.
