Chaos Awaits! Stranger of Paradise Final Fantasy Origin Launches March 18

Discover a challenging action RPG born from the collaboration of Team Ninja, Koei Tecmo, and Square Enix.

Stranger of Paradise Final Fantasy Origin is launching tomorrow on Xbox Series X|S. You’ll get to discover the dark beginnings of Final Fantasy’s first villain as you experience the series in a way that’s never been seen before.

Safe tropes and expectations will be subverted, so prepare to throw a lot of what you know about Final Fantasy out the window!

In this intense action RPG, you play as Jack, a hero on a mission. Jack and his companions have been tasked to bring balance to the Kingdom of Cornelia, a strange but familiar world plagued by the destructive forces of Chaos. Though your memories are fleeting, you know your mission: defeat Chaos at any cost. As you battle the darkness consuming the world, recover your memories, and discover the truth of this world…

Fight Your Way

A metric ton of fearsome monsters await, complete your missions by strategically adapting your real time tactics to each situation. Using abilities like soul shield, you’ll be able to restore MP, and even make enemy abilities your own! Take advantage of various action abilities to deplete an enemy’s break gauge and finish them off with the Soul Burst!

Jobs… the Fun Kind, Anyway

There are dozens of different job classes for you to experiment with to find your preferred playstyle. Experiment, tweak, and upgrade the various job classes to your heart’s content to find your ultimate power fantasy, then switch between your two favorite jobs on the fly at the push of a button mid-battle.

What jobs are in the game? Well, this blog would never end if we went through them all, but here’s a taste:

  • Paladin: Recover HP as you fight and keep it high as this holy warrior dishes out maximum damage when smiting foes at max HP.
  • Dark Knight: On the flip side there’s the Dark Knight, unleashing staggeringly powerful attacks at the expense of HP. You deal more damage the lower your HP gets, making this one of the jobs with the highest potential damage output in the game. High risk, high reward, only those with guts need apply.
  • Sage: Can’t decide between white or black magic? Then wise up and don the mantle of the Sage, alternating between both the light and the dark as you obliterate foes with Ultima, which is (surprise) the ultimate magic in the game.

Customize Your Character

Ransack dungeons and loot the bodies of your foes to collect tons of armor, weapons, and gear. Change the way you look and play the game with every piece of gear having different possible combos for job class affinities or special effects. By finishing missions or scrapping loot you don’t need you can craft, upgrade, and spec your way to victory. (and a stylish victory at that)

Team Up with Friends

Play the game in a group of up to 3 players through online co-op multiplayer, as well as being able to face off against raid bosses, exploring special co-op dungeons, and getting unique loot. And no worries about loot sniping here, the spoils of war will drop individually for each player.

Select Your Difficulty

For a more balanced experience, go with Action, for a sweat-inducing challenge, go with Hard. Finally, for the hardcore among us…Chaos awaits.
