New Features and Experiences

We have exciting news! Beta users can expect something new coming to their Xbox Update Preview.

Capture & Share

A new playback and editing app called Captures is now available, accessible through both Guide and My games & apps. You will recognize a lot of the existing functionality now with an updated UI and improved performance, as well as a new option to copy your local captures to an external drive.

Additionally, on Xbox Series S|X consoles, captures at 720p and 1080p now experience up to a 30% increase in bitrate.

Discord Voice

A Discord server & voice channel browser is now available when clicking the Discord button in the Guide under Parties & chats so account-linked users can join a voice channel directly from their console.

Users who do not have their Discord and Xbox account linked already will be directed to link their accounts after clicking the Discord button.

Note: To join direct calls you will still need to use your mobile apps.

Edge

A random subset of users will be able to try an experimental Microsoft Edge feature to block embedded content that negatively impacts performance while browsing.

Live Streaming via Twitch

When streaming to Twitch from the Guide, you can now do so using your Lightstream or Streamlabs subscription, if you have one linked to your Twitch account. To do so, change the “Destination” drop-down on the “Live streaming options” page.

Settings – Language

Ukrainian is now available to select as a console display language. You may notice some experiences such as in Store where not everything will be displayed in Ukrainian. Please file feedback with Report a Problem if you see any unlocalized strings or incorrect translations.

Settings – Power options

We have updated the Power options settings page with more information so you can better decide how you want your console to behave when you turn it off.

Xbox Support

Starting today, Xbox Assist is updating to Xbox Support and will include a new layout and browsing experience that is similar to that on support.xbox.com.

Fixes Implemented

Thanks to the hard work of Xbox engineers, we are happy to announce the following fixes have been implemented for this build:

Capture & Share

  • Fixed an issue where the audio and video could be out of sync when watching a recorded clip.

Home

  • Fixed an issue where the icon for a disc-based title would not appear on the dashboard.

System

  • Various updates to properly reflect local languages across the console.
    • Note: Users participating in Preview may see “odd” text across the console, for more information go here.

Known Issues

We understand some issues have been listed in previous Xbox Insider Release Notes. These items aren’t being ignored, but it will take Xbox engineers more time to find a solution.

Apps

  • We are investigating reports of users experiencing stuttering playback in streaming apps.

Audio

  • We have received reports of users experiencing intermittent issues with audio across the dashboard, games, and apps.
    • Note: If you experience issues with audio, please submit feedback via Report a Problem immediately with the “Reproduce with advanced diagnostics” option and include the following:
      • When did the issue start? After a console update, reboot, resume, etc.
      • Did you lose audio just in the game/app or system audio as well?
      • Does changing the audio format resolve the issue? If yes, what was the format before and after?
      • Does rebooting resolve the issue?
      • What does your setup look like? Equipment, layout, etc.
      • And any additional information you can provide to reproduce the problem.

Capture & Share

  • Copying clips and screenshots to an external drive in the Captures app may not work.

Controllers

  • We’ve received some reports that users’ controllers are randomly losing sync or disconnecting from the console. If you encounter this behavior, please be sure to report this issue after reconnecting.

Discord Voice

  • Attempting to browse Discord servers while in an active party will switch you from party chat to game chat. If you decide not to join a Discord Voice call and remain in your party, to switch back to party chat, navigate back to the party, select Options, and toggle the ‘Switch to game chat’ button.

HDMI-CEC

  • We’ve received some reports that HDMI-CEC is not working correctly.
    • Note: Ensure that your TV supports HDMI-CEC and is also enabled before filing feedback.

Live Streaming via Twitch

  • Streaming to StreamLabs with any resolution other than 720p does not render correctly. We are working on a fix.

My Games & Apps

  • Titles in collection may incorrectly appear with a “trial” tag.

TV/Display

  • Some users have reported that the console is displaying at the incorrect resolution on boot.  We are aware and investigating.
    • Note: If you encounter this behavior, please ensure that you submit feedback via Report a Problem immediately. Please include the make/model of you TV/Display in the description.
    • Workaround: Restarting the console via the Power menu (Holding down the Xbox button displays the power menu) should resolve the behavior.  If not, ensure you are looking at the troubleshooting here, specifically the section about ensuring your TV firmware is up to date.

System

  • We are aware of an issue which can cause the console to turn on unexpectedly and we are investigating.

Make sure to use Report a problem to keep us informed of your issue. We may not be able to respond to everyone, but the data we’ll gather is crucial to finding a resolution.
