Welcome to adventure! In anticipation of the November 7 release of Super Lucky’s Tale, Xbox created a custom hot air balloon that took flight during The Albuquerque International Balloon Fiesta and fans everywhere were able to see the stream from 1,200ft in the sky as they tuned in live on the Mixer Xbox Channel. Friday morning’s exciting flight set the Guinness World Records for “Highest-altitude Gaming Stream” and makes Super Lucky’s Tale officially amazing!
The livestream, hosted by Rukari Austin, Community Manager at Microsoft Studios, and featured live gameplay with exclusive never before seen in-game content, while the balloon was soaring through the sky. The Albuquerque International Balloon Fiesta took place from October 7 to October 15 where families and children at the Fiesta could get a glimpse of the custom Super Lucky’s Tale hot air balloon and interact with Lucky himself.
Xbox wrapped the custom hot air balloon with Lucky and all the color that captures his cheerful personality. We also built a platform to house the Xbox console as well as a screen which was powered by a generator while in the sky. In addition, two Blackmagic micro cinema cameras were used to film the livestream. While the livestream itself also used a bonded 3G/4G cellular networks. These elements were mounted and secured inside the Super Lucky’s Tale balloon gondola.
Super Lucky’s Tale joins the elite group of gamers and developers currently holding Guinness World Records titles for their tremendous achievements, some of which are featured in the “Guinness World Records 2018 Gamer’s Edition” that recognizes the records set or broken by gamers and developers across the globe and is in stores now.
