theHunter: Call of the Wild’s Open World Coming to Xbox One in 2017
Avalanche Studios may be known for explosive action games like Just Cause 3 and Mad Max, but open-world hunting has been very close to our hearts for a long time. In February we released theHunter: Call of the Wild on PC, the latest game in our series and received an amazing response from our players, as well as thousands of requests for the title to be released on console. Today we’re happy to let you know that we’ve created a dedicated console team in-house, and that the game will be coming to Xbox One in 2017.
What’s it like to go on a virtual hunting trip? Well, it can be a very serene experience. There’s actually a subset of players who never fire their gun, but rather go around with their binoculars and admire Mother Nature. If they ever shoot anything, it’s using their in-game camera.
Others play a completely different way. A significant number in the theHunter community are real-life hunters, and they can put their experience and knowledge of the wild to great use in the game. For instance, many instinctively understand the importance of keeping track of the wind. Just like in real life, prey in theHunter: Call of the Wild can smell you if they’re downwind from your location.
For most people, wherever they happen to fall on this spectrum, hunting is a social experience. I personally enjoy teaming up with a bunch of friends (or complete strangers) and head out into the wilderness to find black bear, whitetail deer, European bison or any of the other majestic wildlife present in the game.
We’re beyond excited to bring theHunter: Call of the Wild to Xbox One in 2017. The theHunter franchise has more than 7 million registered players and offers some of the most immersive hunting experiences available today.
