New Smite Goddess Persephone Joins the Battleground on Xbox One

Persephone, Queen of the Underworld, claims her throne in the exciting new Smite update available now on Xbox One! As the daughter of Zeus and Demeter, Persephone’s fate was often decided by others. So when she saw her chance to act alone, Persephone took it. Hades offered Persephone a not-so-simple choice: a seed of a pomegranate, grown in the underworld. Persephone was clever. She understood what was being offered. Those who eat the food of the underworld are bound to it and must return. So, for the first time, Persephone took control of her life -- and her throne in the underworld. Persephone is Queen of the Underworld, but really only in title. She doesn’t aspire to the... Train Sim World 2020 Arrives Today on Xbox One

Winning is a slippery concept, something seen everywhere in today’s gaming culture. Gone are the days when everything was about getting the fastest time or the highest accuracy; to any one of us winning could mean something different - collecting all the achievements, perfecting a flawless run or something as personal building a castle in Minecraft that you think is beautiful. For Train Sim World, winning is about accuracy and control, not speed – which makes it far more challenging than a simple race. Train Sim World has always had a scoring system but for the Train Sim World 2020 update we wanted a system that reflects the demands on real rail drivers and engineers while also... Demon Pit is a Savage Arena Shooter and Homage to Classic FPS Games of the 90s

Demon Pit is a fast-paced FPS arena shooter, inspired by the genre classics of the 1990s. The gameplay design work and graphics were done by Paul Conway, and I (Sam Redfern) did all the programming. Although we’ve been friends for several years, due to the vibrant local developer community here in Galway, Ireland, and although we have both been developing games for 15+ years, we haven’t previously worked together. Demon Pit was initially prototyped during a Game Jam in late 2017. The first iteration was called Night of the Pumpkins, with evil pumpkins chasing the player in lieu of hellspawn, due to the game jam’s “Nature’s Revenge” theme. It was a janky demo with only two... The Buskers Behind Genesis Noir

Genesis Noir is an adventure game that takes place before, during, and after the Big Bang. A cosmic gunshot expands towards the heart of a god and you must explore the universe, seeking clues on how creation might be undone. The Big Bang has been getting ever larger and we’re excited to announce that it will expand all the way to Xbox One! We’re a tiny studio comprised of two dudes in New York, a handful of freelance pals, and some great musicians in London who’ve dreamed of exploring strange worlds and sharing them with others. I think seeing how far we’ve come, it’d be nice to take a moment and share some experiences that started us on the path to creating this noir... Read more: The Buskers Behind Genesis Noir

We are so happy with the positive response from the community. As Paradox fans will know, we’re known for our continuous support for our games with DLC. We released Planetoids, Leviathans and multiplayer capabilities (with the ability to continue in single player-mode) to name a few. Now, with the launch of Utopia, Stellaris: Console Edition players can get in on the biggest expansion... Read more: Stellaris: Console Edition Gets First Major Expansion, Utopia, Today!

Metal Wolf Chaos XD Available Now on Xbox One

Since its original release in 2004, Metal Wolf Chaos has been a bit of a legend or peculiarity in FromSoftware’s stories history. While it was genuinely an attempt to appeal to gamers outside of Japan with a more arcade-style experience mech game, in a cruel twist of fate the game was never released outside of FromSoftware’s home nation of Japan. And so, a legend was born and grew from there. When it came time to bring the game to a whole new generation of FromSoftware fans and gamers in general that never had a chance to play the original, it was important to do it right. The game itself is a joy to play with arcade style combat and larger than life setpieces so we wanted to... Read more: Metal Wolf Chaos XD Available Now on Xbox One

A Whole New Saga of Survival in Ark: Genesis on Xbox One

One of the most frequent questions I am asked is, “What’s next for Ark?” Approaching five years in development, Ark has grown far more than we had ever imagined, and it is clear the appeal of big, crazy new worlds filled with dinosaurs and fantastical creatures to tame and ride with your friends never really dies. Thanks to Ark’s passionate community and a love for new content that fits its mold, what were once straightforward plans have become so much more. Through in-game events, free DLC maps, and continued game updates, we’re also polishing, addressing player feedback and fixing issues to make it a better game for everyone. Ark: Extinction was supposed to be the end... Read more: A Whole New Saga of Survival in Ark: Genesis on Xbox One

Children of Morta: Designing a Game with a Family at its Core

Children of Morta, an upcoming story-driven action RPG coming to Xbox One on October 15, tells a story of a family struggle and uses its main theme as a foothold in the design process. In the initial design stage, we decided to stick to the rogue-lite genre because of high replay value that it offers to players. But we quickly realized that we also wanted to tell rich stories and those are not very common in this genre. We were fatigued by standard fantasy tropes about brave warriors and overpowered wizards, so we figured out the tale of a family would be compelling and original. After all - whole families, that serve as heroes, are a real rarity in games. Children of Morta is set... Read more: Children of Morta: Designing a Game with a Family at its Core
