Enjoy These Great Sci-Fi Films That Inspired Prey
In celebration of all things sci-fi, Arkane Studios’ dev team shares how classic sci-fi movies inspired the Bethesda Softworks upcoming game, Prey. Launching on May 5, Prey is the highly anticipated first-person sci-fi thriller that Arkane Studios is calling an “open space station game,” blending both RPG and action adventure game styles. The storyline fits right in with sci-fi film classics like The Matrix, Moon, Starship Troopers, and Total Recall.
Bethesda Softworks partnered with Alamo Draft House to showcase a few of these films throughout April, and will have their last festival event tonight at the Regent Theater in Los Angeles. Alongside these special film screenings, fans were invited to join Bethesda for a chance to play the game before launch.
Xbox is joining the celebration with the “Inspirations for Prey” movie collection on sale in the Xbox Store and available via the Xbox Dashboard from April 25 to May 5. This collection will have something for most sci-fi fans, from the psychological twists and turns of Moon and Pitch Black to the intense action of The Matrix and Starship Troopers.
These emotions and story elements helped inspire Prey, where you wake up aboard the Talos I space station, finding that you are the key subject of intense experimentation meant to alter humanity forever. But something has gone wrong, and it’s up to you to unravel the mysteries of the space station as well as fight off an alien infestation. Can you survive long enough to find out who you really are?
The films included in the Xbox collection:
- The Matrix
- The Matrix Collection (all 3 movies)
- Moon
