E3 2018: Announcing Devil May Cry 5 for Xbox One, an Insane, Over-the-top, Stylish Action Game Like No Other
We hope you’re ready for the craziest action game of this generation! Devil May Cry 5 is on its way to the Xbox One family of devices and will rock your socks off with silky-smooth 60fps gameplay, ridiculous weapon combos and abilities, and groundbreaking, high-fidelity graphics powered by Capcom’s own proprietary RE Engine. There’s never been a better time to be a DMC fan!
We’re very excited to be unveiling this new chapter in the Devil May Cry series and can’t wait to show and talk more about it, but first, let’s do a quick refresher on the history and story so far…
Devil May Cry follows the journey of rival siblings Dante and Vergil, sons of the legendary demon Sparda, as they struggle with demonic invasions, power hunger, and each other. In Devil May Cry 4, young newcomer Nero shows up with his Devil Bringer demonic arm and lots of questions to stir up some trouble as he butts heads with veteran demon hunter Dante. In the end, the two of them part ways amicably and Nero settles down in a tucked away part of Red Grave City.
Leading right into the events of Devil May Cry 5, Nero, now a grown man, has given up his rebellious ways and runs his own demon hunting business: Devil May Cry. He’s even got a new haircut and a demon arm cut of- wait, that’s an important detail… You see, someone (or something?) cut off his demon arm, and he’s not super thrilled about that. But life goes on and he’s found a clever way to keep the shop open and the demons hunted: rad prosthetic arms!
That’s right, arms. Plural. With the help of expert craftswoman Nico, a brand-new character to the series, you’ll get to equip Nero with various unique robot hands capable of crazy abilities and devastating attacks.
If chasing down a demon-arm robber wasn’t enough trouble, a massive demonic invasion has started to sprout out of a menacing demon tree, which has planted itself smack down in Red Grave City. Not necessarily Nero’s lucky day, I’d say.
This fight is not only his, though. Devil May Cry 5 will feature three playable characters, each with their own unique over-the-top playstyles and flair. But that’s a topic for another day. For now, check out the announcement trailer above, featuring Nero’s blood-pumping battle theme by Ali Edwards. We look forward to sharing the next batch of Devil May Cry 5 details later this year at gamescom 2018.
