Planet Alpha Launches September 4 on Xbox One
Planet Alpha is an adventure game that takes place in a living alien world where you can control the day and night. It combines fast platforming, challenging puzzles, and stealth elements with a unique art style to create an unforgettable experience. Alone and far away from home, you find yourself in the center of a conflict of epic proportions where second chances are rare. It’s with great excitement that I can now proudly announce that Planet Alpha will release September 4 on Xbox One.
The world of Planet Alpha is as beautiful as it is deadly, and to survive you must use both your mind and your reflexes. Use the ability to control the daytime and how the planet is transforming to overcome or to avoid deadly wildlife. Without a weapon, direct confrontation is not desired but some elements in nature can be deadlier than a gun. With a bit of imagination, you can use these to survive a dangerous encounter. The giant leaf-eating dinosaurs are peaceful and slow, but their massive tails can pack a deadly punch when annoyed and the insect queen will show no mercy for whoever invades her nest, regardless of whether it’s you or the robots who are hunting you.
Having a release date feels surreal and it is a moment I’ve been personally waiting for since 2013 when the first ideas for the game started to take shape. Back then I had no clue of the journey that was lying ahead, but I was determined to give the platformer genre a fresh take — and to create a game that offers a special experience.
Over the years the game grew from a part-time personal project to a team of seven, we had to go back to the drawing board when we thought it was almost finished, and even the name changed a few times.
We also iterated, constantly and over everything, and with every iteration, something was left behind. With no restrictions, we let our imagination run free and in a way the game grew on its own, twisting and turning, with ideas generating new ideas.
What we ended up with is not a perfectly shaped, cute garden tree, but a wild one that will surprise you at every turn. I hope you’ll take this journey on September 4 on Xbox One and I can’t wait to hear what you think of it.
