Everything You Need to Know About Rage 2
We’re just a week away from running and driving around the crazy apocalypse of id Software and Bethesda’s Rage 2. There has been a steady drip of information since the game’s announcement last year, and in the recent weeks leading up to the game’s launch, so we wanted to wrap all this information up into a short-and-sweet post here on Xbox Wire. Read on below for Rage 2 pre-order details, some background on the game world, and more.
When was Rage 2 announced?
Bethesda revealed Rage 2 on May 14, 2018 with this ”Andrew WK” fueled trailer.
When will Rage 2 be released?
May 14, 2019
What sort of game is Rage 2?
Rage 2 aims to deliver a robust first-person shooter experience with a dynamic open world to explore in addition to awesome vehicle combat. Basically, our dream game.
Who is making it?
The game is a joint development between id Software, developers of Doom, Rage, and Quake, and Avalanche Studios, renowned for publishing recently released Mad Max and the excellent Just Cause series.
What is the story about?
As revealed in the first game, an asteroid has annihilated nearly all of Earth’s population — and humanity’s numbers are dwindling. No thanks to the ruthless and bloodthirsty gangs who roam the open roads and the tyrannical Authority who seek to rule the world with an iron fist.
As Walker, the last Ranger of the wasteland and a threat to their power, you’ve been robbed of your home and left for dead – and now you’re out for revenge.
With ludicrous vehicle combat, first-person mayhem, and an open world full of emergent madness, you will tear across an unforgiving wasteland battling sadistic gangs to find the tools and tech needed to crush the oppressive rule of the Authority once and for all.
What is the combat like?
Thanks to the combination of two great gaming studios — Avalanche Studios for their open world; id Software and their first-person shooter roots – we’re looking forward to exploring, shooting, and blowing stuff up. Not to mention fighting against ferocious factions for control of the wasteland, each featuring a rogue’s gallery of madmen, mutants, and monsters hungry for blood.
Thanks to the ability to upgrade your weapons and utilize devastating Nanotrite powers (think the Plasmids from BioShock), and Overdrive, the ability to push your guns beyond their mechanical limits, combat sounds like it will have no shortage of ridiculousness.
We’re also looking forward to seamlessly traverse a vast and varied landscape, from lush jungles and treacherous swamps to sun-scorched deserts in pursuit of The Authority. The wasteland sounds massive. Not to mention driving monster trucks and gyrocopters, and the claim that “if you see it, you can drive it,” we’ll be living out our favorite scenes from “Mad Max: Fury Road.”
Is Rage 2 Xbox One X Enhanced?
Yes, it is! The Xbox One X Enhanced features for Xbox One X will be available day one featuring 60 fps gameplay.
What versions of the game will be available?
There will be two digital versions of the game available on the Microsoft Store for Xbox One. If you pre-order the Standard Edition of Rage 2 you’ll get the exclusive mission Cult of the Death God, the Settler Pistol, Nicholas Raine Armor, and a Mutant Monster Truck Skin. There’s also the Deluxe Edition, which also includes the pre-order bonus, as well as the Rise of the Ghosts Expansion, the Doom BFG, Wasteland Wizard Cheat Codes, Battle Standard, and a Progress Booster.
