As the end of another frigid January approaches, so too does the triumphant release of Journey to the Savage Planet! Starting today, you can join Kindred Aerospace’s Pioneer Program, agreeing to be strapped to a poorly made rocket and hurtled thousands of lightyears into undiscovered space, eventually landing on an uncharted planet with almost no resources, tools or equipment of any kind.

Journey to the Savage Planet

Why, you might ask, does a massive interstellar exploration corporation send you on a critical mission with none of the necessary gear? The answer is simple and comes in two parts: 1) The idea is silly and made us laugh and 2) Finding and creating these tools is a defining part of the game’s structure. The more you explore, the more your skills and ability grow with you! And the more your skills and abilities grow, the more exploration opportunities become available. You seeing the loop we’ve gone for here?

Journey to the Savage Planet

Over the course of about 15-20 hours of exploring and upgrading we hope you’ll finally put down the controller, feel a warm tingle of satisfaction, and move on with your life. Essentially, as a group of about 25 old-people, we made the kind of deeply finishable, concise game we wanted to play. No loot boxes, no microtransactions, no daily raids, no grind: Just a reasonable amount of content that can be played, enjoyed and finished long before it starts to test your patience and you begin to resent it. You know, like they used to make!

And because we’re all veterans of the AAA development scene, we’ve all spent more time than we care to contemplate crafting dark, washed out worlds with brooding anti-heroes and involved, super serious plots. Not in this game! With Journey to the Savage Planet, it was important to us that the game be lighthearted, bright, and fun. You know, something that’s more likely to make you giggle than leave you feeling exhausted and miserable.

So, if you’re picking up what we’re putting down, and you like the cut of our jib, grab Journey to the Savage Planet today for the irresponsibly low price of $29.99 on the Microsoft Store. And, hey, grab a friend while you’re at it, because the whole game, start to finish, is completely playable in two player co-op. Can you think of a better way to stave off the cold embrace of Winter?
