Remaking Dead Space, Available for Pre-Order Today
Every player has their iconic games from the various video game genres andDead Space is often at the top of their list when it comes to sci-fi survival horror.
Before the Motive team even began the lengthy task of remaking this classic title, we decided reaching out to the most dedicated fans was a priority. Why? Because our primary goal was to stay as true to the original version as possible.
Getting feedback from the most passionate players we could find helped the team make informed decisions rather than relying on internal opinions as the game work progressed. The question, “What do the players really want from a remake?” was always front and center.
Rebuilding the game for the Frostbite engine presented new opportunities to modernize every aspect of the game – from new 3D atmospheric audio to refined Visual Effects (VFX) that help intensify the mystery, tension, and immersion for players on today’s platforms.
That’s not to say, of course, updating visual and audio effects were the only changes being made. Beyond the jaw-dropping visual fidelity and suspenseful atmospheric audio updates, there are also improvements to gameplay including updating Zero-G traversal, refined combat/dismemberment, enemy damage effects, and more. Plus, the addition of lore elements from all three original games, new side-quests, and deeper character backstories, will enrich the narrative for both new and veteran players.
