State of Decay 2’s newest update gives you the opportunity to be a hero in the game and in real life. These coming months are a critically low time for the blood supply, but the need for blood never takes a summer break. This is why Undead Labs has partnered with the American Red Cross, to urge you to sign up to donate blood by using our custom portal, and we’re encouraging your donation with new game content and other ways to engage. Welcome to our #SummerofSurvival!
A strong community is the best defense against hordes of undead. Update 37: A Light in the Dark, available now, introduces recruitable survivors with new Blood Donor and EMT Driver traits, boosting aspects like morale, recovery, and cardio. You’ll encounter these survivors when you accept a mission to help a new enclave save critically injured members of their community.
Along the way, you’ll unlock new cosmetics like the Zombie Nurse T-shirt and the Blood Donor jacket. Save the enclave, look good doing it.
They See Me Rollin’
In our first partnership with the Red Cross we introduced the Bloodmobile, a limited time in-game vehicle, flecked with blood and complete with lights and sirens. The Bloodmobile became a surprise hit with players, and it returns in this update with improved trunk storage increased from 9 to 15 slots. Perfect for saving the day, whether that means a supply run or helping out a friend in need.
We’ve also permanently unlocked the Bloodmobile for your driving pleasure! It’s not only back, it’s here to stay!
Sign Up, Donate, Win
At the heart of this new content is the real and ever-present need for people like you and I to donate blood.
Every two seconds someone in the U.S. needs blood. It is essential for surgeries, cancer treatment, chronic illnesses, and traumatic injuries. Blood cannot be manufactured, nor can it be stockpiled. Whether a patient receives whole blood, red cells, platelets or plasma, this lifesaving care starts with one person making a generous donation.
We are calling on you to sign up to donate today! When you come to give, you’ll have the chance to be entered into a giveaway for one of three prize packages. You could win a custom controller, mouse, or even an Xbox Series X. Check it out and get involved! Read the official giveaway rules here.
But this is just icing on the cake. The key reason to donate is because it’s a simple way to make a dramatic impact for good in the world. It’s something only you can choose to give, and once you do, you’ll discover a powerful feeling of connectedness to the hero within you.
You can also keep the hero’s journey going, and help the Red Cross simply by playing the games you love! Play and earn Rewards points that you can donate to the Red Cross (open to U.S. residents only).
Every Donor a Hero
At Undead Labs, it’s not unusual to see someone’s calendar booked for an hour because they’re donating blood. The real life community we live in, our collective health and survival, these things are important to us. We know everyday people like you and I are the reason blood transfusions are possible, and we know it’s everyday people like us that keep the supply going. The undead may crave it, but survivors desperately need it, too!
Be a real life hero. Sign up to donate now. You’ll earn snacks, maybe even win prizes, and best of all, you’ll feel a sense of pride and accomplishment with this simple act. It’s profound how much impact you can have on people you may never meet.
