Road to the Show

Road to The Show (RTTS) has returned this year with loads of new features, perks, and goals to pursue on your journey from high school to the Hall of Fame. The Amateur Years in Road to The Show has expanded dramatically as we’ve more than doubled the number of college programs participating in expanded high school recruiting and NCAA Men’s College World Series tournament play. The team at San Diego Studio also spent a lot of time upgrading the middle and late career stages, rewarding players who advance deeper in their careers, and ensuring that the moment-to-moment gameplay remains exciting and fresh throughout your Road to The Show.
This year we’ve really worked to make sure this mode appeals to RPG fans who get excited by a character-building career quest. For example, the goals system is designed scale exponentially as your career progresses. In addition, you can also track draft stock, pro potential, and prospect ratings early in your career and monitor consideration for prestige awards like MVP in your prime. Anybody who wants a taste of what it feels like to be the big baller on campus and have top colleges compete for your commitment, this mode is for you.

Road to the Show Tips and Tricks
- Begin with a Hall-of-Fame mindset. As you begin your Road to The Show journey, consider a future legacy in Cooperstown. How do you want to be remembered in the Hall of Fame? A legendary power hitter? A defensive wizard? Begin building the skills and resume as an amateur that could ultimately fulfill your specific career vision.
- Set college recruiting goals as a high school star. Are you holding out for interest from a specific “dream school” or waiting for the offer with the best benefits package, like increased exposure or skill development? No two college offers are the same in Road to The Show.
- Speed up your development by triggering and boosting perks. Not only are there more available perks in Road to The Show, but you can also see in advance how to unlock those perks, and you have more control over how you upgrade them.
- Take control of your career by requesting trades or switching positions. Work with your agents to find the best organizational fit or communicate directly with your coaches about switching positions to speed your progress.
- Simulate when you’re hot. Assuming you can’t take every swing in a 2,000-game Hall of Fame career, you’re going to want to simulate portions of your Road to The Show and the best time to step away is when you’re on a hot streak. Your recent performance can boost the level at which you simulate beyond your Overall Rating (OVR).
Diamond Dynasty

Collect and compete with your one-of-a-kind squad in MLB The Show 26’s card-based, fantasy team mode, blending collectible card mechanics with competitive single player and multiplayer baseball gameplay. You can build a team of current stars, 200+ baseball legends, and special Flashback cards. And this year you can battle through the entire World Baseball Classic bracket with your Diamond Dynasty squad in Mini Seasons.
New for this year, Diamond Dynasty introduces a Red Diamond rarity for legendary player cards. There are also a variety of modes, from competitive online ranked games to single-player challenges like Conquests and Diamond Quest to enjoy. And for all you collectors, you can pursue special cards — be on the lookout for stars from multiple eras, including Albert Pujols, Félix Hernández, and Roy Campanella, so you can field your baseball dream roster.

Diamond Dynasty Tips and Tricks
- Try Battle Royale drafts to learn card strengths and the best ways to build a Diamond Dynasty Team. In Battle Royale, you’ll have limited time access to cards you don’t have in your binder. Notice that you’re raking with one particular card? Try targeting it in Marketplace to get it onto your main team.
- Compete in Weekend Classics for the chance to unlock powerful rewards. These limited-time events have top cards available in rewards, and are excellent for collecting new Diamonds to round out your lineup.
- Upgrade and customize players with faster Parallel XP progression and attribute mods. As you play with a card in your lineup, it gains Parallel XP. That Parallel XP increases the card’s attributes –– rewarding sticking with a card for a while.
- Complete collections for elite rewards. Begin with smaller collections and work your way up. For example, The Los Angeles Dodgers collection will prove to be challenging with 8 diamonds to collect. The Minnesota Twins Collection could be a smart place to start – and collecting the 89 OVR Joe Mauer could be huge to lock-in your early game backstop.
- Rotate your bullpen carefully in Ranked play to avoid fatigue. Fatigue carries from game to game, so while it may be tempting to use all your high-leverage arms to secure a victory, you’ll be depleting your bullpen for the next game.
Franchise Mode

Build a baseball empire and conquer the competition in Franchise mode, MLB The Show’s team-management simulation. As a Franchise GM, you’ll take control of an entire Big-League club, with real MLB rosters and prospects. You’ll oversee trades and transactions, scouting, drafting, player development, team finances, and long-term strategic planning. You can also extend your executive era with Custom Game Entry by playing as few or as many moments throughout the season as you want.
This mode is great for strategists, supervisors, aspiring student council presidents, and armchair GMs who believe they can create the perfect roster that will take their favorite franchise to the Postseason. With streamlined gameplay, you can experience all the big franchise moments without having to actively play out every game. This mode is also great for those who love the challenge of negotiating against a CPU that now takes player valuations, season standings, and market constraints into account for every proposed transaction.

Franchise Mode Tips and Tricks
- For beginners: set CPU assistance to allow CPU to manage scouting & finances early on while you get the hang of the mode.
- Set a strategic plan and stick to it. After you identify the high-potential prospects and long-term cornerstones on your roster, leverage the marketplace trends, sift through rumors and set up that blockbuster trade to either build for the future or put you over the top this year.
- Lock in contract value by locking up young stars early. This will allow you to retain talent and budget flexibility in case you need to plug a hole in your line-up with a one-year rental –– or shop at the top of the market for new Franchise star.
- Build around elite pitching & strong defense—they scale better over long seasons.
- For long time players, try using custom rosters, like full rebuilds, all-rookie teams, or retro leagues, to create challenge runs. This customizability creates dynamic options for you to challenge yourself to see if you can beat the odds.
