Titanfall Launches to High Praise from Critics and Community

By Xbox Wire Staff
From the moment it was announced last year at E3, "Titanfall" has been on the minds of Xbox fans and shooter fans alike thanks to the pedigree of the development team at Respawn Entertainment and the game's status as Xbox One's flagship title. Everyone was eager to see if the folks at Respawn could deliver the definitive next-gen experience, and it's clear now that they knocked it out of the park. Since it launched on Tuesday, the Xbox community has been out in force playing “Titanfall” on Xbox Live and we’re happy to bring “Titanfall” to Europe today. We had an amazing launch in North and South America earlier this week with more than 6,000 retail partners holding midnight madness events, and roughly 2,000 people showing up in Austin for our SXSW launch event. Activity on Xbox Live with “Titanfall” is off the charts, and we’re glad our fans are loving the game as much as we do.

The game's U.S. release saw a wave of reviews praising the game for its refreshing take on the first-person shooter genre, thanks in no small part to the additions of its particular blend of high-speed first-person parkour and massive metal Titans. In giving the game a 9/10, Chris Watters of GameSpot said “The high-flying action intertwines beautifully with the brutish, tactical titan battles, creating battlefields that crackle with possibility. Titanfall is a leap forward for shooters, a game that combines the vibrant and new with the tried and true to create something special.” Matt Miller called the game “a fitting introduction to what the new generation of multiplayer gaming can achieve” in his 9.25/10 review for Game Informer.

"Titanfall" has also been lauded for offering players a finely-tuned, beautifully balanced experience in which success in combat isn't tied solely to map memorization and quick reflexes. When giving the game a perfect 10/10, EGM's Chris Holzworth stated, “It’s this absence of routine that makes ‘Titanfall’ so addictive, something that can be played for hours on end—and then some—with no signs of fatigue.” Arthur Gies also noted the amount of player freedom in his 9/10 review for Polygon, writing “It all comes naturally, and instead of feeling like work, ‘Titanfall’ feels like a playground.” And, with a perfect 5/5 score, USA Today’s Brett Molina concluded, “For Xbox One owners, this is spring’s must-own title.”

We're excited that so many people are enjoying "Titanfall" for Xbox One on Xbox Live, both now and in the months to come.
