Halo Wars Definitive Edition Skirmish

Halo Wars: Definitive Edition Available Today for Xbox, Windows and Steam

In 2009, Halo Wars fans picked up their trusty Xbox 360 controllers, amassed huge armies of UNSC and Covenant fighting forces, rained MAC rounds on enemy bases and spammed ODST troops into battle. Eight years later, the trials and tribulations of battle can be relived again with the standalone launch of Halo Wars: Definitive Edition today, available from the Xbox Store, Windows Store and Steam for $19.99!

The original Halo Wars was special for many reasons – its story of conflict between the UNSC Spirit of Fire and Covenant took place more than two decades before the Master Chief landed on Installation 04 in Halo: Combat Evolved. It proved real-time strategy – a genre beloved by PC players – could be adopted to a controller, bringing RTS to a new audience. And, of course, it introduced us to beloved characters – Captain Cutter, Spartans Jerome, Alice and Douglas, Professor Anders and more – many of whom returned to fight again in Halo Wars 2.

Halo Wars: Definitive Edition runs natively on Xbox One and Windows, bringing improved graphics, additional Achievements and all of the DLC into one convenient package. PC players can also look forward to optimized mouse and keyboard controls as well as support for up to 4K resolution. For the Xbox One and Windows Store version, Halo Wars: Definitive Edition is an Xbox Play Anywhere title – meaning if you buy digitally on either platform, you get the other at no additional cost.

We’re also excited to be releasing Halo Wars: Definitive Edition on Steam, joining Halo: Spartan Assault and Halo: Spartan Strike in the Steam marketplace! All you’ll need to play is a Steam account and a strategic mind.
