Xbox One Launches in China

This is a monumental day for us at Xbox and marks the first day of our journey in China as today, Xbox One officially launched in China, becoming the first video game console to do so in 14 years.

Now available at more than 4,000 retail locations in 37 cities throughout the People’s Republic of China, gamers and families throughout the country now have access to some of the best games and entertainment experiences spanning racing, sports, fitness, dance and adventure with music, karaoke, entertainment, social and more app experiences to come.

It has been rewarding to see new fans lining up at stores, connecting to Xbox Live for the first time, and enjoying the first wave of games available.

To capstone Xbox One’s first day, some of the most iconic buildings of the Shanghai skyline – including the Oriental Pearl Tower – were awash in Xbox Green.

“This milestone is significant for both our partnership with China and our global expansion plan. Every new market launch is unique and we’re grateful to our fans for their patience and enthusiasm,” said Phil Spencer, head of Xbox. “We will continue to work closely with our partner BesTV to bring exciting games, entertainment and app experiences to delight gamers across China.”

Our launch in China cements our global expansion into new markets, which continues to build upon the most successful launch in Xbox history. With the launch in China, Xbox One is now available in 41 markets.
