About twenty minutes into Theme Park Tycoon 2 on Roblox, I had already built what I believed to be the roller coaster to end all roller coasters. It was a contorted skyscraper of a ride, with a death-defying series of expertly crafted loop-de-loops, careening nosedives, and enough stomach-churning twists and turns to terrify even the most daring of thrill-seekers. I dubbed it the “Magnum Opus.”
“Teacups, ha!” I scoffed. “You ain’t seen nothing yet.”
But alas, to my dismay, my guests weren’t nearly as impressed by my masterpiece. If I wanted to become a successful theme park operator, I needed to do more than just build insanely dangerous roller coasters. I had to look elsewhere for inspiration or perhaps enlist a helping hand to keep my visitors safely entertained. Lo and behold, as I swiveled the camera, I was greeted by not just one other theme park…but an entire world of theme parks, all filled with some of the most marvelous rides and attractions built entirely from scratch. And therein lies the start of your journey in Theme Park Tycoon 2, one of the most popular management simulation games on Roblox—now available for free on Xbox One.
Created by Den S, Theme Park Tycoon 2 tasks you with building—yep, you guessed it—the ultimate theme park. How you go about doing that is up to you. You can invite your friends to build together in real-time, or you can fly solo. You can strive to build a five-star theme park and share it with the world, or you can simply design the roller coasters of your dreams. A new system was developed specifically for Xbox One to make building easier than ever on a controller. Now you can instantly create your own immersive theme park and experience it with friends and family right from the comfort of your couch.
Right out of the gate, Theme Park Tycoon 2 gives you access to hundreds of customization options. You can modify or reshape the terrain, add scenery, construct food and merchandise stalls, and build dozens of rides from Ferris wheels and swan boats to roller coasters and other action-packed attractions. If that wasn’t enough, there are dozens of customization options, in-game achievements, and additional rides to unlock. Just remember to keep an eye on your visitors—they have specific needs, such as hunger and thirst. The happier they are, the more money you’ll make and the more glorious your park can become.
What’s also cool about Theme Park Tycoon 2 is that it’s a uniquely multiplayer experience. Not only are you encouraged to build together, but you’re also invited to enjoy other people’s theme parks as well. Take a break from all that creativity and check out what’s happening next door with your friends!
So, after a day of playing Theme Park Tycoon 2, what did I learn from my experience? There are two types of creators. Those who aim to please and those who dare to dream big. It takes a healthy mix of both to prosper in this game. Which one will you be?
