I’m the creator of the silly adventure game Demetrios (well received on Xbox, One judging from the reviews posted on Xbox Live!) You may also know me as the French guy who ported and optimized Xenon Valkyrie+ and Riddled Corpses EX for consoles.
Well, I come to you with the new port of Diabolical Mind’s latest Dungeon RPG/roguelike Demon’s Tier+, much improved over the PC version.
Demon’s Tier+ retains the best aspects of his previous titles – the rich narrative and fun roguelike elements of Xenon Valkyrie (with a more lenient difficulty curve and a more approachable gameplay experience for newcomers to the genre), combined with addictive twin-stick shooting in the vein of Riddled Corpses EX.
The result is a well-balanced adventure that can also be played in “couch co-op” with a friend. Just pick a second controller and play. This is one of the key areas I’ve vastly improved by performing some test runs with friends. Believe me, it’s all fun and bickering over who gets the upgrades (shared points to spend) while constantly stealing between companions!
Expect huge bosses to defeat and a wonderful chiptune soundtrack, reminiscent of old school 16-bit games, from the same composer GiorgiOST. Each boss battle rewards you with a recipe for a new weapon to unlock, aiming to make the next run a bit easier. In addition, each unlocked character thas specific abilities tailored to individual playstyles – focus on health restore, attack buff, or even fire magic… Still too hard? Buy some useful items like potions in the shop!
What about the “Tier” in the title? Well, for the most persevering players, three playthroughs are available with increasing difficulty leading to three separate endings. Combined with challenging achievements, secret characters to unlock and an affordable price, there’s plenty of content for your money.
This is the final game in the Diabolical Mind trilogy and I hope you’ll enjoy it. As for fans of Demetrios awaiting the next adventure game from me, I’m pleased to report I’ve been working on a very ambitious and innovative title for four years now. Expect a proper announcement soon!
